Review
Design
The Google Pixel 7 Pro has a fresh and more subtle design than its predecessors and making it a “Good looking Google phone”. Besides the Pixel 6a, now there is a home for a triple camera setup in the phone. Pixel 7pro is built out of aluminum, which gave it a good haul. The camera bump did ensure that it doesn’t wobble when kept on a flat surface. Also, add-ons to it are the IP68 water resistance.
The Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro are sleek, sophisticated, and durable. Plus the aluminum enclosure for both phones is made of 100% recycled content.
Indeed, the Pixel 7 Pro is overall physically very similar to the previous generation. The large form factor handset with curved edges front and back is a tried and true formula across numerous brands, but the Pixel-specific camera assembly on the back – the ‘visor’ as some call it – makes it uniquely recognizable as the Google phone.
It’s precisely the visor that is among the few new design touches this time around. Now an integral part of the aluminum midframe, the camera protrusion promises to be more durable than last year’s glass-covered implementation. That is to say, less prone to breaking, but not so to scratching – the internet is filled with reports of users already having nicked the visor.
Display
Google Pixel 7 Pro comes with a QHD+ 6.7-inch AMOLED display which is now LTPO, which gives the display to show variable refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz, however, required. The screen curves gently on either side of the display.
The cherry on the cake is that Google Pixel 7 Pro comes with Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus both on the front and the back. It supports HDR10+ on OTT platforms services like Netflix and the brightness could reach up to 1500 Nits.
Performance and Software
The power-driven inside this Google Pixel 7 Pro is of Google Next-Gen chip Tensor G2 with 2 Cortex X1 cores clocked at 2.85Ghz. Further, the chip carries a Cortex A78 core and utilizes a quad-core Cortex A55 cluster as efficiency cores. The processor cannot catch up to the SD 8Gen-1 but, the Pixel 7 Pro overturned 1029 in single-core and 2942 in the multi-core test runs.
Software-wise, the Google Pixel 7 Pro runs on Android 13 out of the box. The interface gets a baked-in VPN down the line. Further, its ‘Photo Unblur’ feature is a great option for people having shaky hands. Also, you can use this feature for any of the old photos taken from any phone or camera.
Cameras
Google Pixel 7 Pro comes with a 50MP main sensor along with a 12MP ultrawide sensor and a 48MP telephoto lens. It takes Selfies with a 10.8MP selfie-shooter lens.
Google Pixel 7 Pro took some great and stunning images with great HDR processing which now competes with the flagships like Samsung s22 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max. It overturns equally appealing images in 2x, 3x, 5x, and even 10x zoom levels. The macros are also improved in this device from the predecessors.
Gaming
Google Pixel 7 Pro handles the animations rendered and the switching and opening-closing of the apps smoothly. It can play the most demanding games with the best graphics and FPS.
You can play Call of Duty Mobile at Very High Graphics and Max FPS, or the Lowest settings, we can get bonus leverage of 90FPS gaming. In Genshin Impact on Highest Graphics, it gives you a great performance of frames around 55-59 FPS. Apex Legends covers Extreme Graphics Quality and Very High FPS.
Battery
Google Pixel 7 Pro has a 5000mAh battery and gives you a great battery backup that will last you until the end of the day. The device offers 23W of wired charging speed which takes a little over 2 hours to refill completely.
Verdict
All said and done, the Google Pixel 7 Pro is not a run-of-the-mill Android flagship and instead of banking on its specs, the handset hopes to deliver an unmatched end-user experience, especially in the software and camera department, it did. And, while there is plenty of room for improvement, there’s no denying that the Google Pixel 7 Pro is a dependable flagship that gets the most right, or we can consider it a great all-around phone.
